We couldn't believe our ears when we were told by several CRM Solution providers that we would need to pay extra to support our field reps with an offline version. How ridiculous? Either you pay extra to provide your field reps with mobile internet solutions so they can connect to the internet from anywhere, or you pay extra for the offline licenses that allow the field reps to use the CRM without the internet and sync up upon returning their desk or home office. If you are already using a CRM system this will probably sound familiar, if you haven’t used one before please consider this

When we made the decision to release PerfectCRM, it was based off the desire to resolve the main pain points that all companies using a hosted CRM solution or "web CRM" were experiencing, including ourselves:

  • The most important users aren't actually using it:
    Even though the on-demand CRM solutions purchased were deployed with the company's sales force in mind, all too often it is the sales professionals who rarely or never use the CRM Solution.
    Reasoning ranges from it being too time consuming to use, too difficult to use, or lacking a few small but significant features which become large annoyances when you consider CRM is something a sales professional is usually logged into 75% of their working hours.

    The result:

    a wasted investment and unneeded friction between management who is unhappy about the empty pipeline dashboards, and a sales department who no longer believes in management's ability to recognize what tools are needed on the front lines.
  • "It's very customizable, but it can't do that":
    All too often the out of box features are not enough to satisfy the specific needs of the other departments intended to use CRM solution and the measures needed to have the system reflect the uniqueness of how each department operates either require a large investment with a 3rd party professional services group, or the vendor claims to have a future release of the CRM solution that will offer the missing features (this as you may know is software terms for "don't expect this anytime soon").

    The Result:

    The marketing staff will request the purchase of a marketing-specific system to properly manage their campaigns, requiring further investment and an expensive magic trick that will eventually be needed to make the marketing system integrate with the CRM used by the sales department. The customer service staff will request the same, or worse, not request anything and compromise your customers' service experience as they try to make it work for their needs. Lastly, you'd better hope you never have a need for any project management or proposal streamlining, we won't even go there.
  • Too little, way too late:
    This pain point is the worst, and was enough to push us over the edge in discontinuing our relationship with the supposed "leader in software-as-a-service."Imagine taking the time to plan out a complex deployment to several different groups of staff, already running at full capacity. Imagine paying a software trainer $1000's of dollars to train your staff who are also being paid to attend these workshops while falling behind in daily work. Imagine your management team spending more time trying to figure out how to get the stats they are looking for instead of actually analyzing and developing strategies based on the stats. Now imagine at the end of all this, you learn that your leading CRM's reporting engine "currently is not able" to provide reports that collect data from several different areas of the program which happen to be the reports you need to run your business. We learned the hard way that although a vendor will offer you CRM designed to work with your business regardless of how unique it is; expecting it to have unique reporting capability was our mistake.

    The result:

    You are placed in a position where you either give up entirely on the vision of having this system that will help your business, or, you look for a CRM Vendor that has experienced exactly the same situation, look no further!
